Raising up the next generation of Haitian leaders through soccer, discipleship, and education

Haiti

Young Athletes with Hope (YAWH) — Founded in 2016 by native Ephraim Lucien, YAWH uses ‘foutbol’ (soccer) to teach young men how to lead and love like Jesus. Youth ages 12 to 18 train daily and participate in classes and training to learn skills and trades that will help equip them for adulthood.

As one of the poorest countries on earth, Haiti suffers from poor leadership, environmental catastrophes, and scarce resources making it very difficult for Haitians to have hope. YAWH is a beacon of light to the country’s restless and forgotten youth by encouraging young men to dream of a better future through education, discipleship, and service.

Highlights

  • Over 300 young men have participated in the soccer program since 2016

  • Over 50 young men have graduated from YAWH and gone on to pursue advanced education in Haiti and the Dominican Republic

  • 60-80 homeless Haitians are fed each week as part of YAWH’s community feeding efforts
